Happy New Year, my friends! I wish you the very best in 2017. To get the new year off to the right start, I’m bringing back the 3 Things posts, which I started in 2016 but like most things, didn’t follow through with. So here goes nothing. 😀
3 Things 1.7.17: Good Riddance 2016; Canvas Art; Grout Sucks
Good Riddance 2016
I’m glad to see a new year. Don’t get me wrong, we had a lot of great times in 2016 and had some good successes on the homestead to go along with the failures. If you read my yearly re-cap yesterday, you know what I’m talking about. One thing I didn’t share in yesterday’s post was the federal tax audit we had to go through at the end of 2016. Let me tell you how much fun it is to go through a tax audit. Can you guess how awesome it is?! I bet you wish you could experience it too. 😀 Whoa boy. And guess what? The IRS found only minor errors that would have resulted in them owing us money, so they recommended no changes. Fun times! If you ever find yourself in an audit though, I’m your woman. I have lots of tips for surviving the madness.
Canvas Art
I’ve only been thinking about making canvas art out of some of my photography for a long, long time. Years maybe. Well, I finally did it. I made a nice Winter- Spring-Summer-Fall display of pictures I’ve taken of our barn and shared on instagram for my husband. And I took a few pictures of food and flowers I’ve grown and made a display for my kitchen. I love them. They add a nice splash of color to my kitchen and make me happy.
By the way, if you don’t follow me on instagram, why not? Head on over there. You’ll be the first to know when my Rainbow Le Creuset display is finally complete! 😉
Full Circle Grunge Buster Grout and Tile Scrub Brush
After living in the Passive-Aggressive House for over a year now, our grout is a disaster. And since the ENTIRE first floor is tile (including our master bedroom), that pretty much means most of the first floor is in need of a grout intervention. Instead of choosing a nice dark color that would hide all the dirt, we went with a nice light gray that is sure pretty when it’s clean. Which was like the first day we moved in. After staring at it for months and watching the grout lines get darker and darker, I finally ordered the Full Circle Grunge Buster Grout and Tile Scrub Brush with my last Grove Collaborative order.
It’s a made out of eco-friendly bamboo using non-toxic coating and it fits just right into our grout lines. I really love Grove Collaborative by the way. It’s so cool to have eco-friendly products like dish soap show up at my house every month. I never have to hunt for them at the store anymore and I’m glad I found this grout brush too.
And that’s it for this installment of 3 Things. Next week, I promise to post again. Happy Weekend, my friends!
The tax audit sounds like such a headache! I love your canvas art and want to do that for our house too. Also, I need your best grout cleaning tips. I think I give up!
Sounds like a great blog post! Grout cleaning for suckers. Lol!! I’ll add it to the list. Happy New Year, Jeni!!
Love these posts!!
Thanks, Pat. I’m working on a video tour of the kitchen for the next post!
Yay for 3 things ;). I live in fear of a tax audit and will be sure to call on you if my fear is realized! I LOVE that they would’ve owed you, ha!
I know, right?!!!! ARGH! What a frustrating waste of time and money that audit was. Anyway, make sure you are saving receipts for all blog expenses as well as credit card and bank statements, Jami. 🙂
