3-things-11. My First TV Appearance – I was on TV this past week!

I can’t bring myself to watch the clip, but I was on TV on Wednesday, talking about ways to make your home cozy for the winter. It was a quick four minutes and I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I had to be at the station by 7 am, and since it was an hour a way, that means I left my house at 5:50 am. It also means that I splurged and pampered myself in ways that I haven’t in a long, long time. I got my haircut and my eyebrows waxed. I had a make-over at Bare Minerals and spent way too much money on some beautiful makeup.

I bought new shoes and some jewelry. And I had a manicure. It was a lot of fun and I’m glad I did it. I’m not very good at self-care, and this was a fun excuse to put myself first, even if it was totally nerve-racking and freaked me out big time. 🙂 If you want to see me on TV, the clip is here.

3-things-22. A Week of Tacos –

A lot of people asked me to share how our week of tacos went. If you missed it, a couple weeks ago I made all meals around a taco theme. I cooked 6 quarts of taco meat in my slow cooker, and most of our meals revolved around tacos for the next 7 days. Well, in a way it was a success, and in a way it was stinky. 😉 Lots of beans, friends. Lots of beans.

The kids enjoyed each meal that included the taco meat except the taco pasta. They didn’t enjoy that. They also didn’t like the fish. I had intended to make fish tacos, but I ran out of time and just made fish instead. The fish was actually quite tasty, but the kids complained anyway, because that’s what they seem to do best about my meals. If I really wanted to pacify them, I would cook the same amount of taco meat and just give them a few bags of organic tortilla chips and a bunch of tortillas. That’s what they really want and they’d happily eat that for seven days without griping.
