Amazing Gift Ideas for Crafty Kids!
My kids spend hours crafting, sometimes just to spite me, I think. 😉 From drawing and coloring, to making slime and painting, my kids are always busy making messes erhm being creative and using their brains. Here are the top crafts that have been occupying their time this past year. I’ve also included a few new to us products that we’re excited to try. If you’re looking for gift ideas for your own crafty kids or nieces or nephews, I’m sure you’ll find something on this list to make them happy!
Amazing Gift Ideas for Crafty Kids
My kids have been making slime in all colors and styles possible, thanks to the Ultimate Slime book by their favorite Instagrammer, Alyssa Jagan, @craftyslimecreator. The book contains over 100 borax-free slime recipes and my kids have been very successful at following Alyssa’s easy instructions! If you aren’t scared by the slime phenomenon, get your kids this book and a few supplies so they can make their own slime! Ultimate Slime by Alyssa Jagan costs $2.99 on Amazon for a physical book or $7.49 for a kindle version!
If you have a child interesting in learning how to felt, this cute little kit with teach them to make hedgehogs!
This family friendly Exploding Kittens card game is the perfect if you're looking for something you can play with your kids, your grandparents or friends. It's a game of strategy which involves laser beams, exploding kittens, and the occasional goat. It takes a few minutes to learn and a game is played in about 15 minutes. This version is for 2-5 players but if you've a big family I recommend getting the up to 10 players kit.
Coloring supplies also make great gift ideas for crafty kids! At the top of my 10 year old’s Christmas list for a second year in a row is a huge pack of gel pens. She loves these gel pens more than about anything and they get tons of use, which is why we need another set this year! Last year we bought the big set of gel pens at Costco, but they also sell them on Amazon. I love this Color It set which includes refills and an organizing case as well! You can buy the ColorIt Gel Pen set with 48 pens, case, and refills for $19.99 on Amazon.
Not only do my kids love gel pens, but they also really, really, really love colored pencils as well. We’ve had the 24 set of PrismaColor pencils for quite some time and it's nearly used up. Last year my eldest daughter received the 132 set for Christmas! She was thrilled because like I said, she really loves creating with these beautiful, soft colored pencils. I recommend you include a pencil sharpener too if they don't have one.
You can buy the 24 set PrismaColor Colored Pencils for $17.99.I love this camera bundle. I've included the HP Sprocket inn my gift guide for overworked mothers too. This year a new and improved version is back that’s even better. The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is both pocket size printer AND an 8 mp card, equipped with LED dual color flash! How awesome is that? The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is about the size of a smartphone and fits easily in a purse or backpack. We love that it provides instant, high-quality 2″ x 3″ photos and think this is the perfect gift for a crafty kid who loves photography! You can use the app to customize with filters and connect to a home printer via bluetooth. The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 Photo Printer cost $50 for a renewed bundle or get a brand new one for $93.77
My kids love Coloring Books by Johanna Basford. There are so many options from holiday themes like this one for $7.46 to Inky Oceans, Enchanted Forests and others. The detailed ink drawings become rich and colorful with colored pencils or gel pens.
My crafty kids also really love the LEGO architecture sets. They are little more sophisticated than the LEGO geared for younger kids. And we also like to commemorate places we’ve visited with LEGO architecture kits! Anna has built the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Space Needle and more!
Another gift my crafty kids love is the Gelli Arts card printing kit! With Covid we are sending our cards to family and friends we can't visit in person due to health issues. This video is amazing. I know my kids love creating fun cards and other fun projects with their kits. This limited edition kits cost $21.99
