Finally, how about a few organic beauty products from JUICE BEAUTY!

I’m excited to offer a giveaway to a few Juice Beauty products too, because I just love what this company stands for. So many US cosmetic companies are shrouded in secrecy and use harmful chemicals without proper disclosure. Juice Beauty’s goal is be transparent and use certified organic ingredients. It’s a very different company motto compared to the conventional, synthetic chemical-laden beauty brands.

Since our skin can absorb up to 60% of what is placed on it, Juice Beauty takes every precaution necessary to reduce the risk that toxins from pesticides might contaminate our bodies, our children’s bodies, and ocean habitats. They purchase the majority of ingredients from local West Coast USDA Certified Organic farms to monitor the quality and limit fuel waste. An many of their products are manufactured with solar power. I’m loving their lip pencils and mascara and I’m giving away one set of Anti-Wrinkle Treatment with three awesome, full sized products including an Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum, and Antioxidant Serum, and an Anti-Wrinkle Eye Treatment too!

And that’s it. My long list of gift ideas designed to give some peace, zen, and happiness to the overworked mom. What would you add to this list?

5 Reasons NOW Foods is a Great Choice for Healthy Living

I went to the NOW Influencer Wellness Immersion in Chicago recently to learn about Now Foods. And wow, did I learn a lot! If you’re interested in your family’s health and well being, you need to know about NOW Foods.

5 Reasons NOW Foods is a Great Choice for Healthy Living

NOW Foods – Family Owned Company Dedicated to Your Health

NOW Foods is a family owned, debt-free company that began in 1968 and is committed to remaining family owned. As a family owned company they are able to focus on the best interests of employees and consumers instead of focusing on shareholder interests. And that means YOU WIN! NOW Foods sells over 1,400 different natural, organic, and wholesome products to help people Live Happy. Live Healthy. Live NOW {their awesome tagline!}. Products include personal care, organic and non-gmo foods, essential oils, sports supplements and nutrition products, and  natural pet care items too.

Essential oil products sold by NOW Foods

Healthy Living

NOW Foods helps people live a healthy life by providing superior products at an affordable price. All of their food is non-gmo and much of it is organic. They prevent allergen cross contamination and source pure, reliable ingredients.  On our plant tour, we learned that it can take an entire day to clean equipment before switching production.

Essential Oil production at NOW Foods

They test all ingredients when they arrive and if they find inferior quality ingredients, the company is not afraid to reject them. Additionally, all finished products are tested multiple times throughout production as well. You won’t find fake or diluted products (olive oil anyone?) sold by NOW. By taking control of ingredients and making their own products in house, NOW Foods sells their wares for 25-30% below their competition.

Corporate Stewardship

Not only does NOW Foods sell quality products for a reasonable price, they’ve also won awards for their commitment to the environment by recycling, reclaiming water, and reducing their carbon foot print. I wish more companies would care more about the world we live in – we only have one and it’s getting dirtier and dirtier. I love that the company follows the Golden Rule. My own children hear about the Golden Rule all the time and seeing it in action in Chicago was really awesome.

NOW Influencer Wellness Immersion

During our tour of the NOW Foods production facilities in Bloomington, we learned first hand about the company values and learned how well they treat their employees. I have never been in a production factory before and was so interested to see employees, machinery, and the data testing machines. Company CEO Jim Emme shared such a beautiful company vision during our trip and we saw it up close and in action!

NOW Foods organic and GMO free food

Organic & Non-GMO Foods

One thing I heard a few times on our trip was surprise over all of the organic food products NOW Foods sells. More people knew about NOW sports supplements, vitamins, and essential oils than their food. But they also sell a full line of amazing cooking oils, gluten-free baking mixes and pastas, teas, sustainably sourced non GMO cocoa products,  nuts, grains, snack foods and more!

Oil Tasting at NOW Foods

During our afternoon at the NOW test kitchens, we participated in an oil tasting! Have you ever tried pumpkin seed oil? NOW Foods sells it and it’s oven organic! We also tried brownies made from theri gluten-free brownie mix. The brownies were delicious! Honestly. I was surprised I liked them. 😉

Where to Buy NOW Foods

When we lived in Colorado Springs ten years ago, I bought NOW essential oils and vitamins at a store called Vitamin Cottage. Many other grocery stores carry their products too and you can use this store locator to find a store near you. If you don’t find a store near you, don’t despair! Amazon also sells a lot of their products! I love Amazon Prime so much. While I love living in the country, shopping is often problematic. Thank you Amazon Prime.

NOW Foods prize pack worth $536

If you’ve read through the whole post, you will love this news! NOW Foods sent me home with an amazing assortment of goodies, and they’ve also offered the same prize pack to one of my readers! Want to win a really fun assortment of goodies worth $536?! Just enter the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

Printable Checklist for a Smooth Back to School Transition

Use the free printable back to school checklists of before & after school tasks {located at the end of the post} for a smooth return to school. Kids can take responsibility for themselves with these handy lists!

Printable Checklist for a Smooth Back to School Transition

I haven’t shared this information on the blog yet, but all four of my children are heading off to public school this year for the first time ever. Since I’ve homeschooled for over seven years, this is a big deal for me. One of the things we really like about homeschooling is not having to be places early in the morning very often. When we start back to school in a few short weeks, I’ll have to get four kids out the door before 8:00 am. Yikes! Anxiety is already setting in and I’m trying hard to get organized. One way I’m organizing is with checklists for the kids so they can take ownership of the things they need to do each day before and after school. To try to keep my nagging to a minimum, we created before and after school checklists and printed them with my new HP DeskJet 3636.

Free Printable back to school checklist

I’m so excited that I was able to print these checklists in my house! When we moved into the Passive-Aggressive House last September, our printer stayed in the offices in the barn. I could print from my house, but we had to run to the barn to pick up the papers. Needless to say, printing hasn’t been very convenient. I’ve been saying for months that I want to buy a printer for the house and I finally made it happen.

HP DeskJet 3636

When I decided to get a printer for the house, I wanted a few features besides simply being able to pick the prints up *inside* my house. Besides printing, I need to be able to scan and copy. At under $60, the HP DeskJet 3636 that I picked up at Walmart was very affordable. It’s also small enough to fit right in my new sideboard that I’m using as a blogging desk. And I really love the easy mobile printing! Have you ever had something on your phone that you had to figure out how to get to your computer to print? I have and it’s annoying. With the 3636, I can use the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app and print (AND SCAN!) directly from my phone. But best of all, this printer prints twice as many pages with Original HP high-yield ink cartridges!HP Desk Jet 3636

Back to School Checklist

My kids are going into 7th, 5th, 3rd, and 1st grade. You’d think they would all know to do these things by now, but the truth is, they don’t. The first thing I printed with my new printer are before and after school lists which the kids have seen and already talking about. My two littles are even excited about the lists. I’ve got them on clipboards for the time being and we’ll keep them in their lockers. The lists slide inside a page protector and are reusable by using dry erase markers!

What You Need to Know about Flying Air Choice One Airlines

If you’re considering flying on Air Choice One Airlines or any other small, regional airline, here’s what you’ll need to know before your trip! What you need to know about flying Air Choice One Airlines

I recently had the experience of flying to Chicago with the North Iowa Bloggers courtesy of the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce and Air Choice One Regional Airlines. My husband is actually a private pilot, and in our previous life before children, we used to fly in little two seater Cessnas quite often. We lived in Okinawa, Japan when he got his license and enjoyed island hopping, whale watching from the air, and once we even went camping via airplane with two awesome friends of ours.

Mississippi River from the Air onboard an Air Choice One Airlines flight

The Mississippi River From the Air

I loved the views from the plane so much – it’s pretty amazing to see where you live from the air. I enjoyed looking out for the Mississippi River on our trip to Chicago. Some other bloggers on our trip were even able to find their homes! I tell you what though. Having kids turned me into the biggest weeny there is regarding all things potentially scary and / or dangerous. I’m not sure what happened, but I used to love reading Stephen King. Not anymore. I used to love watching Law & Order. Not anymore. And I even used to love flying. Not anymore – not on little planes. Not on big planes. Not really on any plane… I always feel like I’ve cheated death when I finally land, even though I know that driving is statistically more dangerous than flying.
