Here’s how to play TPC Sawgrass, Streamsong, and Tiburón in a single weekend using private charter flights so you can experience the ultimate Florida weekend golf trip.

With over a thousand courses spread across the state, year-round sunshine, and layouts designed by some of the most celebrated names in the game, Florida has earned its reputation as one of the greatest golf states in America. The problem?

Florida is a big state. A REALLY big state. Driving from the legendary fairways of Ponte Vedra Beach all the way down to the manicured greens of Naples will eat up the entire day. That’s time you could be spending on the course!

So, here’s a question worth asking: what if you didn’t have to drive?

The Dream Itinerary for Golfers in Florida

Most weekend golf trips follow the same formula. You pick one area, book a hotel, play the same region’s courses for two days, and head home. Which is fine, but it doesn’t have to work that way…

Imagine teeing off at TPC Sawgrass on a Saturday morning, the iconic island green on the 17th hole staring you down exactly like it does every March during The Players Championship. Then, a couple of hours later, you’re wheels-up heading south, and by afternoon you’re walking the wild, sandy scrubland fairways of Streamsong, one of the most architecturally unique golf destinations in the entire country.

Two completely different courses. Two completely different experiences. One weekend.

That’s the kind of golf trip that actually can be made possible by private charter companies like Noble Air Charter, operating out of Opa Locka in Northern Miami-Dade County. And when you split the cost between a few friends, it becomes a lot more attractive than driving 15 hours in one weekend…

Am avid golfer, Jonathan Jackson, CEO of Noble Air Charter has the following recommendations:

TPC Sawgrass – Ponte Vedra Beach

No golf bucket list for Florida is complete without it. The Stadium Course is one of the most recognizable layouts in the world, and playing it feels exactly as significant as you’d expect. The par-3 17th, that famous island green, is every bit as nerve-wracking in real life as it looks on television. Stay and play packages through the Sawgrass Marriott make it accessible, and the Dye’s Valley course next door is a worthy warm-up or cool-down round if you’ve got the legs for it.

Streamsong – Brooksville

About 75 minutes south of Orlando, Streamsong sits on a stretch of central Florida scrubland that most people would drive past without a second glance. That would be a mistake. Built on land owned by a mining company, the property has been transformed into a 54-hole complex featuring courses designed by Tom Doak, Coore & Crenshaw, and Gil Hanse — three of the most respected architects in the modern game. It plays unlike anything else in the state, with rolling terrain, waste bunkers, and a wind-exposed openness that feels more like a links course than a Florida resort. It’s the kind of place serious golfers talk about for years afterward.

Tiburón Golf Club – Naples

If you want to finish your weekend in style, Tiburón at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples is hard to top. Two Greg Norman-designed courses — the Black and the Gold — host PGA Tour Champions and LPGA Tour events each year, so you’re playing on genuinely tournament-caliber turf. The Black Course, in particular, has wide, generous fairways balanced by tricky bunkering that rewards smart course management over brute force.

PGA National – Palm Beach Gardens

Home of the Honda Classic and the infamous Bear Trap — the trio of holes at 15, 16, and 17 that has wrecked more PGA Tour leaderboards than anyone can count. If you haven’t played PGA National, you haven’t fully experienced what Florida golf can throw at you. Wind, water, and pressure combine on those closing holes in a way that’s genuinely unforgettable.

Why the Logistics Actually Matter

Here’s where most golfers leave a lot of joy on the table. Florida stretches nearly 500 miles from top to bottom, and while the weather is almost always cooperative, the traffic and drive times can be brutal, especially on weekends.

A growing number of golf travelers are solving this problem the straightforward way: private charter flights. The ability to fly from Jacksonville to Naples, or from Tampa to Palm Beach, in under an hour rather than four removes the single biggest obstacle to building a multi-region golf weekend. You’re not losing Saturday afternoon to the interstate; you’re spending it on the back nine somewhere spectacular.

A few practical things to consider:

  • Book tee times early. – TPC Sawgrass and Tiburón in particular fill up fast, especially in season (November through April).
  • Consider the direction. – Flying north to south (Jacksonville → Naples) on Saturday and playing your way back gives you the most flexibility with afternoon light – even if your point of origin is South Florida.
  • Pack light and smart. – Most charter operators can handle a travel bag or hard case for clubs without issue, but it’s worth confirming in advance.
  • Mix the budgets. – Not every round needs to be a flagship course. Pairing a marquee name like Sawgrass with a more under-the-radar gem like Cabot Citrus Farms (also near Brooksville) makes for a more interesting trip and keeps the overall cost reasonable.

The Bottom Line

Florida golf is genuinely world-class, and the only thing that’s ever really held it back as a multi-destination experience is the assumption that you have to drive everywhere. Once you take that off the table, the whole state opens up in a way that most golfers never get to experience.

Pick two courses you’ve always wanted to play. Book the flights. Get the tee times. And let me know how it went!
