A big part of keeping a low grocery budget is being willing to experiment and think outside the box. That skill comes in especially handy for me right now, as I’m trying to make it through the month on $127, but still eat healthy, delicious foods.
Here’s a 4 Cheese, No Sauce Pizza I concocted a couple days ago that was so delicious! And easy to make, too!
Here’s how:
Prepare your pizza dough. I make mine in quadrupled recipes and freeze 3 extra batches. When I want a pizza, I take the dough out of the freezer, let it thaw, and then use it. Super easy!
After you’ve rolled out your dough, make sure you prick your dough with a fork so it doesn’t get all bubbly.
I like to bake my crusts first, before I load them with toppings. I’ve found that little step helps them get nice and crispy.
Here are my recommendations for this pizza:
1.Preheat oven to 425 F.
2. Bake your pizza crust for about 10 minutes before you load it.
3. Add the secret ingredient: Lots and lots of garlic. Smash it all over your pizza:
4. Add cheese – my favorites are Mozzarella, Cheddar, Fresh Parmesan, and Feta. Sprinkle with a bit of oregano and basil (or use fresh if you have it)
5. Bake 7-10 more minutes, until the cheese is browned and bubbly.
ENJOY! What’s your favorite pizza?

This looks delicious! We rarely put sauce on our pizza… sometimes thinly sliced roma tomatoes, but rarely sauce. I need to try adding some crushed garlic right on the crust. Why haven’t I done that before? 🙂
I just got a new BIG OLE freezer and have been working on filling it. This reminds me to add pizza dough to my list! Never thought to leave out the sauce on pizza. We’ll have to try that!
In our house we love Fully Loaded Mediterranian, BBQ Chicken, or Cheeseburger. I just found a new Shrimp Pizza recipe on Allrecipes.com that Iwant to try. It’s looks loaded with calories and absolutely delish!! I don’t think it hassauce either… Just a mix of cream cheese, mayo and other stuff. I’ll post it if we ever get around to trying it.
Your pizza makes my mouth water!!
Wow – that pizza looks fabulous!!
I’m trying to improvise in the kitchen this month as well. While I haven’t officially joined the pantry challenge, I’m definitely trying to use up some of the abundance of food we have in our freezer.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks! Good luck to you, as well. 🙂
Ohhhh this looks yummy! We are making homemade pizza tonight. I may have to try a cheesy concoction. Thanks for posting!
We LOVE homemade pizza around here! So much cheaper than take-out. Thanks for linking up to Refresh Your Nest Friday!
I usually make my pizza sauce free too. My 6yos has fructose malabsorption so he has to avoid tomatoes.
Mmhm, this looks so good! My son is allergic to tomatoes, so we avoid them at all costs. It makes going out to eat very challenging. I’ve grown to hate the taste of tomatoes over the years and have to come up with really delicious ideas that have no tomato sauce, paste, substance anywhere.
