New Year’s Eve Dinner Party Themes

Planning a New Year’s Eve dinner menu is almost as fun as the dinner itself. Start by making a list of New Year’s Eve dinner ideas such as a French theme, an elegant theme, or a relaxed casual vibe.

Here are a few themes we have used in the past:

  • Hollywood Glam – Decorate with classic film posters, dim lighting, and serve timeless dishes.
  • Around the World Feast – Set up different food stations, each representing a different cuisine from around the globe. This works great as a potluck, too!
  • Winter Wonderland: Decorate with white and silver accents, incorporate seasonal ingredients into your menu, and create a cozy, snow-inspired atmosphere.
  • Fondue Fiesta – Set up fondue stations with a variety of cheeses and chocolates.
  • Midnight Magic – Create a dinner menu around the unexpected where magic tricks and illusions are everywhere.

Courses for New Years Dinner Ideas

Once you’ve decided on the theme and atmosphere for your NYE dinner, start crafting your menu. Include a variety of flavors and textures.

Personally, I love appetizers for celebratory meals. They add a certain flair to the event and are fun to make, too. Add in the main dish and flavorful side dishes. Then top it all off with a decadent dessert.

Of course, don’t forget the drinks! I love making mocktails for my kids and white or red wine or champagne for the adults.

Use make-ahead recipes to minimize any last-minute stress. Or keep your New Year’s menu super easy by hosting a themed potluck!
